New Meals on the Block: Spencer’s Fusion Bar and Resto Menu Launch

Wouldn’t it be fun to be invited to fly out to a tourist destination, just to be able to taste a hotel’s brand new menu? This was what I experienced when Best Western Hotel Subic invited me and a few colleagues over to their Spencer’s Fusion Bar and Restaurant for their menu launch. And yes, we flew in from Manila! The flight was courtesy of Air Juan, and took only around 20 minutes!

Spencer’s Fusion Bar and Resto is the gastronomic heart of the hotel, which in itself is situated just minutes away from most of the great spots in Subic. The place is famous for serving some of the best breakfast fares in the area, such as their unmatched Boneless Bangus and Tapsilog. They have both Filipino and international cuisine, giving hotel guests and casual tourists alike lots of options for a sumptuous meal.

Meet the Newcomers

As part of the launch, we had a taste of all the components of their new menu. And it was a lot! We started off with the salads, where the House Salad particularly caught my attention. The fresh veggies really blended well with their house-made dressing! They also served a good Caesar Salad.

Soup was served afterwards ⸺ wild Mushroom Soup, and Pumpkin Soup. The latter was particularly creamy, and the smooth taste was lovely.

The appetizer was a particular highlight, as there was this amazing Pulled Pork Quesadilla! This is a perfect choice for any occasion, as it can fit anywhere. It can be dinner, snack, pulutan, or anything else! Spencer’s take is so cheesy and juicy that it was absolutely one of the best of its kind. Even the staff from Air Juan, Ms. Jessica, said that she’s tasted all sorts of quesadillas and this one beats the rest.

Aside from the quesadilla, we had kingfish ceviche and stuffed potato skins. We also had different kinds of sandwiches, along with 4 main course meals, ranging from the health-friendly Poached Salmon to the indulgent Chicharong Kawali! My ultimate favorite here were the tenderloin tips dubbed “Spencer’s Beef Tips”! It was so delicious and juicy! The tender, perfectly-cooked meat just fell off the bone. I just loved it! My friend

Tina agreed, and she said it came close to being her favorite steak.

Finally, we had dessert! There were two served: the Brownie ala Mode, and the Philly-Style Cheesecake. I absolutely dig both of them. The brownie was fudgy and not too sweet, matching perfectly with the vanilla ice cream. The cheesecake, on the other hand, was delectable, even with the guilty whipped cream! The fruits were also fresh, and the cheesecake really had all the home-made goodness.

It’s one of those moments when you know all is right. We were filled to the brim with good food, and our eyes had their fill of the beautiful Subic Bay views from the hotel. It appears Spencer’s has successfully added another slew of surefire hits to their already famous menu! And for an establishment that is only barely two years old, this level of achievement is remarkable.
