Consuming Catari
It’s common sense, you know? If you want something Italian, you go to Italy. If you want something Greek, you go to Greece. But can you go to Greece for Italian? Well… as a matter of fact, you can!
One of the best meals we had in Mykonos, Greece was in a place called Catari Ristorante Italiano. This must be one of the best and most authentic Italian restaurants outside of Italy itself. In fact, it’s so authentic that everything here is really shipped from Italy!
There are lots of things to love in Catari. It’s a little on the pricey side, as with all fine dining restaurants. But in this case, you really get what you pay for.
The View
The place is a bit different from the common seaside attributes of Mykonos. The restaurant is located in a courtyard, complete with potted flowers and palm trees. Colorful, hand-painted tiles complement the yellow tablecloths and the dim lighting. The place puts more emphasis on ambience than decor, all the less to distract the patrons from the food.
For those who wish to dine al fresco, Catari Ristorante also has outdoor seating. Since it’s still Greece, the Italian flair is mixed with the carefree attitude of the island. The staff are also friendly and helpful, always attentive to the customers’ needs. That’s really a plus if you would love to take your mind off the little things while enjoying the food and atmosphere.
The Food
You couldn’t serve real Italian food without a real Italian chef! That’s exactly who they have in Catari. The food is based on authentic recipes, with an emphasis (of course!) on pasta and pizza.
During our meal, we had some awesome Tuna Tartare. It’s the perfect starter for the evening, especially with the delicious melding of the flavors with the tomatoes and the olives.
Next, we had Tagliatelle with Black Truffle Cream and Prawns! Yes, this is just as decadent as it sounds. This is definitely to die for! Not only does it have a spectacular flavor, the generous portions are also enough to satisfy even the most intense cravings. This is really a taste of food heaven.
Finally, there’s Sea Bass Fillet with Sicilian Eggplants Caponata. They cooked the fish to perfection, and everything tastes amazing. Even the eggplants alone are delicious!
Of course, a great meal deserves great drinks. The selection here is outstanding, and if you can’t choose you can always ask their friendly waiters. Try some white wine with the pasta! And don’t forget the dessert — they have delectable stuff you should really check out.
If you get a chance to dine here, you might also get to meet the owner. Aside from a nice chat, you might even get a complimentary drink plus a lot of good recommendations. That’s right, he tells you where else you can enjoy a great dining experience in Mykonos! That’s not something you encounter everyday, but hey, it just goes to show how awesome Catari Ristorante really
