During the Kerela Blog Express, we only had a few hours to visit and only got to see the lighthouse beach and the KTDC Samudra. But this time, we’re given two days that gave us the opportunity to explore more. We were greeted in a traditional way with Tikka (a traditional food in India), seashell necklaces and fresh coconut juices which is really heart-warming and will put a smile on your face.
About Leela Kovalam
A huge place or sort of a collection of resorts for it is divided into three; beach, garden villas, and the club which have their own swimming pool. My personal favorite is the spot near the lobby, by the breakfast area. Although it’s less private since it’s in the breakfast area where there’ll be a lot of people, the view is just too breathtaking not to notice. They also have spa, gym, yoga classes and other beach activities that you may try during your stay.
The Garden Villas
The scenic view while walking to Garden Villas will make the trip worth it. But you can always call buggy on your way to exploring the villas. Talking about the room we have, it was spacious and we’re fortunate that the balcony is facing the beach, making the place more serene. We’re actually given options on where to stay, but I’ve chosen the Garden Villa not only because of the beach view (which almost all rooms have), but it’s more refreshing and actually feels like home.
Although during our stay there, it can’t be helped that there are some office parties from various companies by the beach, but Leela Kovalam’s ensures that by 10:15 PM music should stop to allow other guests to rest and enjoy their night of staying in the place.
The Food
There is a wide-spread of food selection in Leela Kovalam. Unfortunately, I was sick during my visit so the chef made me a ginger concoction to help sooth my throat. But there are various stations you may try and you will never run out of foods to taste.
There are also restaurants here such as The Terrace that offers South and North Indian dishes, as well as Western dishes; The Tides which offers Asian cuisines and seafoods, and Sky bar which offers cocktails and other delicacies.
The Lobby
The lobby is spacious and really welcoming. During the day, you can see rays of sun coming right through the roof.
The Staff

The staff and their service are superb which adds up to the reasons why this is such a recommendable vacation for anyone. They have been very friendly and welcoming to their guests and they try to meet the expectations of people, ensuring that we feel at home.
The Club
The club give a chic and fashionable look and all rooms are beautiful, but we weren’t able to have the chance to stay longer.
What to visit while in Leela
While in your Leela, you may want to try visiting Trivandrum and search for fun things you can do in the place. Every spot in Trivandrum is actually Instagram-worthy; from scenic places that reflect the reach culture of India and museums that show the history of the country itself.
In Leela, you may also try body surfing just don’t forget your sunscreen or you’ll be sunburned the next day. The waves here is really huge which is definitely a thrilling challenge for all people enjoying surfing.
You may also want to try Ayurveda, a popular place to get facials and massage at a cost-effective price. Aside from Ayurveda, there’s also Divya Spa that has Thai, Swedish, and traditional ayurvedic massages to choose from.
