A Complete Guide on Japan Visa Requirements for Filipinos
1. Determine the type of Japan visa you need.
Japan issues various types of visas such as a visa for medical stay, a visa for business, a visa for transit, a visa for being a spouse, and the like. Each type of Japan visa is intended for a specific purpose such as visiting the attractions or tourism, visiting friends, seeking medical services, etcetera. Same with the purpose, the requirements also vary per visa type. Example of this is when you travel to Japan for business-related meetings or training, you are required to have a certificate of employment, but not in tourist visa.
It is indeed very important to know the type of visa you need according to your purpose of visit before you apply for a Japan visa, to submit the correct requirements and save time.
For this guide, Japan Tourist Visa will be discussed. However, if you have a different purpose of visit, go the official website of the Japanese Embassy in the Philippines for more information.
2. Complete the Japan Visa requirements.
Prepare for the necessary documents for the Visa Application.
Note: The Japanese Embassy only accepts the original copies and documents printed on A4-size papers.

To date, there are seven travel agencies in the Philippines authorized to receive visa applications. All of them accept walk-in applications from Mondays to Saturdays and few offices located in malls operate on Sundays. But most agencies are closed on Sundays and holidays.

Would it be possible to apply for a Japan tourist visa with guarantor/sponsor, but the person/guarantor is currently not residing in the Philippines and is actually working in another country? I’m wondering if it’s possible, since I have just recently gone back home (after working as an OFW in the middle east), unemployed, but my brother who is working in S. Korea has gifted me with a trip to Japan, all expenses to be paid by him. Is it possible to apply for a visa that way? Will wait for your reply, thank you.
Hi Sorry for the delayed reply. I’m currently in Kenya and I’ve been in safaris and all that signal and schedule has been really tight. Reli tours can answer your question but bottom line is you are able to do this if your brother can still submit all the proof that he can support your trip then that’s fine.
