Amari Patong in Phuket : A Mix of Both Worlds

With thousands of travellers and tourists flocking the beach party paradise that is Phuket, Thailand, finding a place to completely bask in the peace and tranquillity that is often much needed in a vacation can be quite tricky. Fortunately, Amari Phuket gives its guests just that.

The Location

Located in the secluded part of Patong District but also close enough to walk to the lively part of town, Amari Phuket is perfect for anyone who loves to relax while the sun is still up and then party the night away once it sets. The resort is only about a 15-minute walk to Bangla Road – Phuket’s nightlife capital. There’s also a number of fine dining restaurants nearby. And since it’s perched on top of a hill, Amari Phuket offers a breathtaking view of Patong Bay and the Andaman Sea.

The Suite

We stayed at Amari for four days in their Two Bedroom Suite Club Ocean View. In addition to its two bedrooms, the suite is also complete with two bathrooms, a separate living room and a kitchen. The design of the whole apartment is very modern, clean and exquisite. An important thing to note is that the room came with complimentary clubhouse access – more on that later.

The beds – one king and one twin bed – were incredibly comfy. The only downside to that was the bed was so nice that it made it hard for me to actually get out of it. I would’ve been perfectly happy had I stayed in bed the entire day.

The best part of the room, however, had to be the view. As soon as we entered the room, we were greeted with a wonderful view of the ocean. Both bedrooms also have large, wide windows so that the ocean would be the first thing to see when we woke up.

The Amenities

Aside from the beaches and the nightlife of Phuket, Amari also has a ton of amenities you can enjoy. Exclusive to guests staying in the Club Ocean Wing, the Clubhouse is a great hangout spot for many reasons. It has an infinity pool overlooking Patong Bay, a sun deck for those who want to work on their tan and a fitness center. If that’s not enticing enough, the Clubhouse also offers complimentary breakfast (6:30 – 10:30 a.m.) and complimentary cocktail hour (5:30 – 6:30 p.m.) everyday. And since it’s only open to Club Ocean Wing guests, it was a nice way to spend a quiet afternoon.

For those seeking indoor activities, Amari has a myriad of scheduled things to do in the recreation area from yoga and tai chi to crafts and sports. As a former preschool teacher, I was particularly interested in their day care center, Kids Club. There is also The Breeze Spa where you can have facials, massage and body therapies after a long day of soaking up the sun. The Voyager Lounge, on the other hand, has a library and some computer games to keep you entertained.

The Service

Even before arriving, I could already tell that Amari’s first priority is the satisfaction of their guests. Their email response was quick and informative. Our check in was also fast, and was also accompanied with a welcome drink, despite arriving at three in the morning because of our delayed flight. Similarly, check out was a breeze as well. The resort can also book ferry transfers, as well as other modes of transfers, for you if you haven’t already booked any prior to arrival.

With 380 rooms and villas, it’s unsurprising that the resort is huge, but in spite of having around 700-800 guests at a time, we still felt like we had our own space. Because of the large vicinity, walking from one point to another might be tiring. Fortunately, Amari has 33 electronic buggies and 3 gas cars that can take guests around the compound.

Amari Phuket also offers easy transportation to places outside the resort. They have a shuttle bus to Patong three times a day and another shuttle bus to Kata Bach once a day.

One thing I found really commendable is that Amari has green initiatives that are concrete steps to not only prevent more damages to the environment, but also improve it.

Throughout our stay, we mostly ate at the Clubhouse because of their delicious breakfast. As a lover of cheese, I loved that they served premium cheese, along with other scrumptious food, for breakfast. Furthermore, the staff was constantly smiling and courteous. During our last day, we had to leave the resort early to catch our flight, and the staff, knowing this, was extra attentive to our needs.

How to Get There

Located roughly 45 minutes away from Phuket International Airport, Amari can be reached through many ways. One is hiring the resort’s private van for THB 1,500. You can also hire a taxi from Phuket SRC, a well-known and reliable tour and transfer service, for THB 600. For larger groups, a minivan costs THB 200 per person. You can also get a taxi from the airport but those are a bit more expensive, ranging from THB 800 to 850.

Why Stay There?

Amari Phuket is the perfect place for everyone and anyone looking to discover Phuket. Families with kids and people wanting a relaxing vacation can easily enjoy the beauty and fun of Phuket in Amari. At the same time, young adults, couples and groups of friends who want to explore the sights, the music and the party of the streets of Patong can go all out, knowing they can retreat to the comforts of the resort afterward. It truly is a mix of both worlds.

  1. This looks like paradise. I love being in swimming pools that overlook the ocean. The only thing that would make it perfect for me would be if it was child free 🙂

  2. It looks like Paradise indeed, but I would have a really hard time to go to Phuket after they had that bug tsunami. I’ve seen so much horror in the months that followed that disaster, that for me this place will forever be tied to doomsday.

  3. WHOA! Now that is what I call first class urban living surrounded by nature (the sea of course)! Amari Phuket looks classy and expensive and you know what, just looking at the photos alone, I am sure you get what you pay for!

  4. Amari Patong looks amazing! The views from the room were spectacular, and looks especially tempting to me right now, as we are in our home city of London, with grey, rainy weather. I need a tropical beach immediately!

  5. Wow! What an incredible resort – it looks so peaceful you would think it was miles away from the party scene! I could spend hours by that pool just watching the ocean – even better is there is someone top up my cocktails all day!

  6. Would definitely recommend this to my brother, he is currently looking for a romantic place to spend his honeymoon next year. I would also love to visit this place for my 1st wedding anniversary this year! Your photos looks inviting and I hope we could make it there soon. Thanks for this!

  7. This place looks like just the greatest location that I would want to book if I would go to Phuket. It is gorgeous! I love all the pictures you have taken as well as the descriptions included. I can only imagine that this would be an amazing experience.

  8. If I do visit Phuket in one of my future trips, I will definitely consider staying at Amari. Your photos tell me that I will enjoy a high level of relaxation at Amari. The rooms are pretty impressive, too. Now all I need to do is to book a flight to Thailand & head over to Phuket.

  15. The Amari Phuket looks fabulous love your photos and that club house pool looks great. We were in Phuket several years ago and the place we stayed pales in comparison. Next time we go I definitely will be checking out this resort, even though is looks a little fancy for our very energetic 7 year old.

  16. Looks like a great place to stay! Never been to Phuket so when I go I’ll definitely check Amari out! Looks like they totally recovered from the tsunami over there!

  17. It looks “premium” in every way- the view, the sand, the room and facilities, the amenities, wow! Would love to visit this place when time and opportunity permits. Hope the the cost will not also be so “premium” 🙂
