Visit Lake Louise, Alberta
Lake Louise is lovely. Located in beautiful Alberta, Canada, it’s the perfect place to spend a summer day. I loved my time at the lake, but for this post I thought I’d tell you what you can do at Lake Louise, rather than telling you what I did. Read on!

The Canoeing
Canoeing Lake Louise is the best way to see it. It’s wonderful to be out in the middle of the lake, in the shadow of the mountains, floating serenely on the calm water. Unfortunately, every other tourist thinks so, too, so go out in the evening when everyone has left, unless you want to be part of a great big crowd of canoers. The other drawback to canoeing is that it is a bit pricey, at $85 per hour from Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Hotel. It’s worth doing at least once, though, and you can always bring your own. The lake usually thaws in June, so plan a summer trip for canoeing the lake.

The Hiking
The Lake Louise area has a lot of great hiking, too. There are many trails of all abilities. For a nice easy hike, try the Lake Moraine Shoreline Trail. This path is pretty flat, and it offers nice lake scenery all the way around. For a tough hike with rewarding views, set out on the Larch Valley/Sentinel Pass trail. There are also many paths on a more moderate level, so you have plenty of options for your trip.

The Rock Climbing
I talked a little bit about rock climbing in my previous article. This is the activity I’d recommend if you had to pick just one! You can take a rock-climbing class based on your skill level and have an amazing adventure on the rocks. The views are pretty great from up there, too.

High Tea
High Tea at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is a reminder that Canada is still under the British Crown. You can feel like guests of royalty as you dine on finger sandwiches and tea brewed to perfection. It makes the perfect date or girls’ day out!

Photography Strolls
The cheapest and simplest excursion you can take at Lake Louise is a photography walk. This doesn’t mean that it’s any less delightful than other activities, though! There is so much to see on nature walks, from wildlife to the stunning vista overlooking the lake. Grab your camera and experiment with angles and filters. It’s a wonderful day to spend a morning in the woods!
Whatever you do at Lake Louise, you’re sure to have a wonderful time in nature. There is so much to see and do! Take a departure from the city and get ready for a beautiful vacation.
I haven’t been to Alberta but always wish to go there someday. I’m adding this to my travel list. The high tea pic makes me hungry!
Lake Louise looks like a great place to visit. Looks like the perfect place to hike. I would love to try to rock climbing and one day! 🙂
There’s plenty of things to do here! I can’t wait to go back here again and just enjoy the lovely view. The place is so relaxing and peaceful.
Your pictures alone make me want to visit. It sounds like a beautiful and fascinating place!
Cananda is on my bucket list now that i have my passport so it would be nice to visit somewhere other than the usual Toronto and Montreal stops.
I’ve been there once before and it’s an amazing experience! I wouldn’t mind going here again to take one of my best friends with me. This place will help her relax and give her peace of mind!
I only need one reason to visit Lake Louise, even tho it might not happen: TEA!
Anyway this is a great post and I adore how the tea setting is made (Yes I do love tea…). Also rock climbing is awesome, I love it, even tho it goes against my fear of hights.
I’d love to visit there! it is beautiful!
I have visited several times now, living in Alberta, Canada as I do. Will be sure to visit many times more.
Wow, that is a place worth to visit. We will take our family there soon, love the photos!
Looks like fun! How exciting!
I was looking for vactaion ideas and look what I found. High tea and rock climbing sound like a great adventure. Can’t wait
I love Lake Louise, whenever I’m in Banff I make sure I visit. One time, myself and a couple of friends hiked up to the Tea House at Lake Agnes. While we were there, a dozen or so chipmunks decided to dunk their heads into our tea/coffee/hot chocolate.
I have heard a lot of nice things about Lake Louise and the scenery just didn’t get old. I just visited Lake Tekapo in New Zealand and your photos reminded me a lot about my visit there! Thanks for sharing! @ knycx.journeying
Informative post Karla, always appreciated! We’re penning a road trip across Canadian Rockies and canoeing around this lake sounds so much fun 🙂
looks amazing every single time i see photo from this locatiion. We have friends who have stayed here and raved about it. The high tea would be amazing my daughters would love it. I think canoeing would be an experience to remember
I know, Canoeing in this really pretty place would be nice. Also try Lake Morainne, its smaller, they do canoes there too.
I want to go to lake Alberta so bad! I could just sit there whole day with my camera I swear. That place is so beautiful.
